Death Metal Disco Scene THE BAND.

In the Blogging world there’s an unfixed but pretty basic pattern/protocol that somehow predicts the future of a new Artist/Band/DJ – for David James Billing’s one man project Death Metal Disco Scene it poured golden opportunities from day one, as soon both Major and Independent labels have sniffed the smell of fresh exploitable talent. The dude never had the time to work on his own solo stuff because it’s been a crazy process of finishing a remix after another for the likes of Kylie Minogue (twice and he produced on her Body Language LP), Cobra Dukes, Lily Allen, Flairs, The Verve, The Dallas Guild, Bat For Lashes, The Constellations and (soon to surface) Flairs and Miami Horror!

This year David James Billing finally set his mind on slaving himself to studio with a mission to realize his Doomdisco into sound, for that he got music-married to long term friend and collaborator Scorch Shepherd - a vocal siren, style icon and the luring bait of the newly transformed DJ outfit to Band. Today they’re ready and armed with a set of songs preserved for a set of releases through out the current year, the first which already been picked up by BBC Radio One for airplay – it’s called 21, a sneaky little dirty textbook Indie-Rock song that reveals its powers the second the chorus kicks in, showing off its spunky, catchy, danceable drug-echoed energy and announces the party.

DMDS even described it better: ““It’s disco and electronic music with a total devotion to rock and roll spirit, punk principles, and fine tailoring,” says David James Billing. “It’s about pop brevity but big smacked-out breakdowns…it’s party music for angry people. It’s a willfully difficult child.””

Although they can easily be thought of as Little Boots, La Roux, Marina & The Diamonds coz of the strong female presence which is not bad but you should be aware that this is a 50/50 effort and mostly succeeded by the genius producer behind the curtains who will take the stage too in a more advanced level of the band’s progression.

21 is a well balanced elixir of mystery Pop and smart lyrics and judging by their sound, they’re going to be a one hell of a Live Band.

Below is the Blog Premiere/Download in 320kbps exclusively from DMDS themselves.

Death Metal Disco Scene – 21

21 is tentatively set for a release in June with remixes from Flairs, Deep Techniq, Dirty Vegas and The Hooks (+possible more).

Update:

It’s been busy at camp DMDS I hear, with record deals flowing it’s a good time to take things slowly and study ones options and that’s what they’ve been doing alongside recording new materials and fulfilling remix requests – the new band line up threw their first live show in London and telling by the raving reactions of the crowds it’s going to be a regular gig (Their next show is on  Nov 27 2009 @ Filthy Few at Bar Music Hall Old Street, London and South East)!

They’ve just finished a remix of Mason’s new single ‘Corrected’ featuring Run DMC & Sam Sparrow and I’ve heard rumors saying DMDS been cooking a few demos for a Kylie Minogue future release!? Wouldn’t be a big shocker if turns out real since DMDS did produce a couple of tracks for her Body Language album plus 2 remixes in the latest era.

We will have to wait and see, but until then enjoy these new goodies courtesy of the band themself.
