Let’s do this. Feel good. Music is here!
Here’s something new from Grum - and, it’s funny, it initally seemed like that Freeland Soulwax-in-reverse full-band album was going to disappear pretty quickly, but in the last couple months there have been a bunch of really revitalizing remixes of those tracks out from people like Siriusmo, Justus Köhncke and Prins Thomas. So, now, Grum, who have really been on a tear keep it right on going with this mix of the track Borderline that appears on Aeroplane’s fantastic August mix.

The Fontän album is quickly becoming a fixture in my late night rotation, revealing a lot of new pleasures with each listen. This is some really beautiful stuff, and it’s great return to the more relaxed, spacious sound of the Information label after the tighter, more pop-structured stuff of the last year or so. Here’s my favorite track right now, one that slowly builds and ebbs and flows but really comes together just perfectly. I really recommend you pick this up when it comes out on the 24th of August.

Here’s a great track that showed up in my inbox by LA duo (apparently) Deux Helix. They’ve got the right psych-electro-noise vibe down and this track sounds like it should soundtrack the continuing adventures of our favorite shapeshifting hero from Birdy Nam Nam’s The Parachute Ending video. It’s loud and it really takes up a lot of space in your mind. I think you should probably keep an eye out in the future.

Finally, here’s some new Fred Falke. This is the (much stronger) b-side to his new single Chicago. Really playing back to his strengths here. Play this at dusk, driving through a field near the ocean with windows down, or laying in the grass or sitting at your window with a Toronto (Rye and Fernet Blanca, official cocktail of the summer) or doing whatever it is that you’re doing right now.

Nightmagnets loves you, you know? We’ll have more for you soon. We’ve got some exciting news coming up, too. Stay tuned.
