A Jetplane Flying Through My Window

Hi, there. I’ve been getting ready to move for the past couple weeks and tackling a big project for work, so I’ve been a bit neglectful of you. I still love you, though. Even you! Here’s what I’ve been listening to as my life is in transition.

I’ve been dying to hear the whole mini-album by The Crêpes (again, for your reference, comprised of The Embassy and Studio’s Dan Lissvik), and I was just recently passed this track which has settled in along with “What Else” on my heavy rotation playlist. I love how effortless they make everything sound - it’s perfect for the waning weeks of summer.

The Crêpes - Love You All The Same

What Else is pretty much sold out everywhere, but will be out digitally this Fall.

There’s a Fake Blood remix of the new Gossip single floating around which I think is pretty good - he’s really been on a roll lately with the Fix Your Accent EP and solid mixes for Miike Snow and Calvin Harris, but I prefer this incredibly crisp piano disco take by Riva Starr. Check out the instrumental mix - it’s more like a dub, with some nice vocal stabs to make it that much fancier.

Love Long Distance will be out on CD and Digital on September 13.

WhoMadeWho’s Keep Me In My Plane has spawned a pretty impressive remix assortment featuring Modernaire, DJ Koze, the KDMS (Kathy Diamond and Maximilian Skiba, who have a fantastic single coming out on Gomma next month) and now this great stretched out and slowed down delight by Max Pask reminiscent of his great mix for 33Hz a couple years back.

To be honest, I really haven’t been too excited by the new SMD album - I gave it a number of listens, but I stand by my (and others) assertion that they will be the Chemical Brothers of the ’10s. A few great club tracks surrounded with a bunch of limp album tracks with “name” guests that everyone forgets about a couple months after the album drops. That said, this is from the bonus disc of Temporary Pleasure is one of their greatest club tracks, and I think it should have been on the album. So there. Love the end bit from about 4:30 onwards.

Simian Mobile Disco - Do Not Exceed Stated Dose

Finally, I’ve still been listening to Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix a ton, but here’s a track that I saw them play twice on the Alphabetical tour that I still wish would turn up on an album. Supposedly they turned this into something else, but I can’t really tell where or what.

You all go out and have a nice Monday, now, yeah?
